Snorkeling with seastars

Providenciales Island Activities, Turks And Caicos Watersports

Quite often not everyone in the family is a diver. Scuba Instruction is available for beginners at Dive Provo, and we also work closely with other water sports operators to help you arrange all kinds of other excursions.

Snorkeling -- Equipment from Dive Provo is available for rental and sale in a wide variety of colours and sizes. Some wonderful snorkeling can be found close to shore at Coral Gardens (also known as The Bight Reef) or Smith's Reef, or let Dive Provo take you a little further a field on our dedicated snorkel trips.

French Cay Snorkel Trip

This trip takes you way south of Provo over the shallow Caicos Banks to a remote little spot of land at the edge of the wall. An uninhabited island, once a pirate hideaway, where you will enjoy spectacular snorkeling. This trip is generally run once a week and offers some of the best snorkeling anywhere. 4 hours, snacks and soft drinks provided.

2 hour snorkel trip

A short boat ride takes you out to the barrier reef in Grace Bay for some wonderful reef snorkeling. Our dive staff are in the water with you, showing you all the creatures not usually seen snorkeling from shore.

Wild West Caicos Adventure

A full day out to snorkel over the edge of the famous wall of West Caicos and a trip ashore to Yankee Town to explore the ruins of an old Mormon settlement, and some bird watching at Lake Catherine. Some rock scrambling required, so not for the old and infirm. Enjoy a beautiful beach, and marvel at all the different blues you will see in the sea and the sky in one day.

Snuba -- A step up from snorkeling after a 15 minute orientation to the equipment you take a guided tour of the reef underwater with surface supplied air. Suitable for children as young as 8 years.

Sailing and Windsurfing -- We recommend Windsurfing Provo who offer the new Hobie WAVE Catamaran. The WAVE is high on performance while being extremely easy to sail. With a fully battened single mainsail you can enjoy the bay from a different viewpoint. For windsurfing Mistral boards are featured from long, light air boards to short slalom and wave jumpers. Sails are modern, fully battened, cambered and RAF. Sizes range from 7.5 - 3.0 m2. Harnesses available at no extra charge. Lessons are available for complete beginners or for intermediate sailors who want to improve their skills. Our shop staff will make arrangements with Windsurfing Provo for you, or for more experienced sailors you can contact Mike prior to your arrival at windpro@tciway.tc

Sail Provo

Sailing Excursions -- The 52 foot sailing catamaran "Ariel" offers half day, full day, and sunset cruises. It's your choice to sunbathe out front over the water in the trampolines, or chill in the shade with Captain Jay Stubbs. Beverages and snacks are included on all sails, just beware the rum punch!

Motor Boating -- Windsurfing Provo offers 16' Carolina Skiffs with 15hp outboard motors will take up to five adults exploring our wonderful cays. Visit Little Water Cay and see the iguanas. Continue further to the east as far as Dellis Cay. You're the captain. Marine VHF radio, cooler, life jackets, waterproof bag and nautical chart supplied. Explore at your own pace.

Provo Parachute

Parasailing -- With Turtle Parasail you will fly high on 600 feet of line over Grace Bay Beach.

Kayaking -- Enjoy a guided Kayak tour amongst the mangroves and learn about local flora and fauna.

Bonefish

Deep Sea, Bottom and Bone Fishing -- On off-diving days, fish for Marlin, Sailfish, Barracuda, Wahoo, Tuna and Bonefish for a full or half day.

We recommend Silver Deep for fishing.

The Deep Sea fishing package includes a 27ft boat, captain, all equipment and complimentary soft drinks. The Bone Fishing package includes skiff, captain, spin casting tackle and complimentary soft drinks. Fishing licenses are extra ($30) and must be obtained by the fisherman when on-island.

Beach BBQ's and Secluded Island Getaways - Take a guide to cater to you and prepare a beach BBQ as you explore deserted cays with beaches perfect for shelling, or arrange to be dropped off for the day on your own "private beach"; umbrella and cooler of food and drink included. There are numerous ½ day and full day excursions; something for everyone. Let our staff put together the perfect day for you and your family.

Shack along Reef Harbor

Explore some of the other islands and cays. Full day trips are available to both North and Middle Caicos and are well worth trying.

Semi-Submarine -- For non-swimmers the semi-submarine offers a great way to view the reef. You sit 5ft beneath the waves and watch the undersea world unfold before your eyes while staying completely dry. This is a great excursion for all the family, young children to grandma.

Golf course

Provo Golf Club -- A Karl Litten Masterpiece - Providenciales not only boasts some of the world's most spectacular beaches, but is home to one of the best golf courses in the Caribbean. Provo Golf Club is reminiscent of "Desert Style" course design with target areas and waste bunkers. It is a magnificent blend of lush greens and fairways and Provo's rugged limestone outcroppings. The twelve acres of inland lakes and marsh areas are home to the many species of birds. It is common to see many herons and pink flamingos in the marsh areas as well as six different species of ducks. Litten has designed the course in a way that offers a larger green area if the approach shot is a long one while the shorter approaches will be to smaller greens tucked behind bunkers or mounds. The golf course is a great test for golfers of any caliber.

The clubhouse offers an ideal place to relax, dine, or cool off with a tropical drink, while a fully-equipped pro shop caters to the needs of every golfer. Residential lots and townhouses are available for those interested in a home or vacation home in the Turks & Caicos.

Spas -- There are numerous Spa services on the island with many resorts offering their own on-property spa. Conveniently located in Grace Bay are Spa Sanay, Spa Tropique and Captain Hooks European Hair and Beauty salon.

Bicycles -- Some of the hotels have bicycles for guests use at no charge. Check with your hotel front desk.

Car -- Rentals are available from a number of locations on Provo. Avis and Hertz are located close to Dive Provo, along with Tropical Auto Rental and Provo Rent a Car.

Visit the Blue Hills area, one of the first native settlements on Provo and enjoy traditional island cuisine and relax with the locals.

Sand dollar

Beachcombing -- A deserted island might be the ultimate place for beachcombing, but Provo has an ample share of beaches around its perimeter. The 14 mile shoreline of Grace Bay is a feast for those whose bare feet hunger for a long or short walk in the off white sand or shallow water where sand meets the bay. Much of the close-in water is a clear emerald green over a rippled sand bottom.

of all sizes, shapes and gender, children with colorful plastic buckets and shovels, windsurfers preparing boards and sails for their quick voyages, boats of divers leaving docks and you-name-it. The fortunate visitor leaves the back door of their hotel room and finds the beach waiting just steps away.

A 4WD vehicle will take those who want a more private beach to SouthWest Point. Here, the rewards to the limited number who make the bumpy trek are long deserted stretches of beach where they can be alone with sand, water and sunshine.
