Advanced Open Water: The next step on the scuba certification ladder!

After completing your Open Water Diver certification earn your Advanced Open Water card with 5 dives in 2 days. This is a great vacation course as this class is self study with no exam and thorough on-boat and in-water briefings.

To get the most out of the class, we recommend purchasing the PADI E-Learning module directly from Dive Provo. Once you have purchased the module from us, we will provide you with a code with which to access the course on the PADI website.

You can read the material at home in your own time prior to coming on vacation and be prepared for the practical aspects of the course that you will complete on the dives with your instructor. You will learn Peak Performance Buoyancy, increase your knowledge of Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation and, especially appropriate here, Underwater Naturalist and Boat Diving procedures.

You don’t have to have a large number of dives logged to take the Advanced Open Water Course.  In fact it is designed specifically for the purpose of launching the advancement of your diving!  So you can start anytime after earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification.

All students must complete a PADI Medical Statement prior to participating in any course. Should any of the medical history items noted on the Statement apply to you, you will need to consult with a physician, who will give written permission, prior to participating in scuba diving. So please be sure to download and review this statement in advance.

Duration: 2 Days

Day One: You will have read the material at home in your own time prior to coming on vacation and be prepared for the practical aspects of the course that you will complete on the dives with your instructor.

On your way to the first dive site your instructor will asses your diving level, talk about weighting, air consumption and about buoyancy control. The first dive will be Peak Performance Buoyancy as having good control in the water is the key to enjoying the activity. The second dive of the day is Navigation. Once you learn a little more than the basic your learned in your open water class you will feel a lot more confident in your abilities to find the boat without coming to the surface to look for it.

Day Two: The Deep Dive.  For safety reasons this is the first dive of the day. You will now be officially certified to dive to 100ft.  The next 2 dives are Underwater Naturalist; and Boat Diver. A basic understanding of what you are seeing is important to fully appreciate the marine environment, and boat diving procedures and etiquette for all those future trips to explore our underwater world.

Your instructor will give you Nitrox for the third dive of the day and if not also adding the Nitrox certification will briefly explain the reason and safety factors involved.  If you are also becoming Nitrox Certified you will have another tank of Nitrox available for your next dive with Dive Provo.

Day Three: A 2 tank boat dive where you can practice your newly acquired skills either as buddy teams or under the supervision of our in-water guide.
